Inspired by living out his faith through acts of service, Greg Damhorst founded Illini Fighting Hunger (IFH) as a Registered Student Organization in the Spring of 2012.
Greg saw the potential to impact food insecurity in East Central Illinois by engaging students and connecting them with resources on the University of Illinois Campus. He has seen Illini Fighting Hunger transform into a organization that connects a diverse group of students, community members, and community organizations in a common goal of serving others.
Stepping down from the role as IFH’s Director in the Spring of 2015, he remains an active member on the Board of Directors, mentors IFH students, and participates when he can in helping facilitate events. His vision for Illini Fighting Hunger is to see the model expand to other college campuses around the nation!
Greg has been a student at the University of Illinois for more than 9 years, completing an undergraduate studying physics, and recently finishing his PhD in bioengineering. He is currently a full-time medical student. Greg’s research focused on developing point of care diagnostic technologies for global health applications.
