Are you a student looking to get involved?

Become an IFH member and join us at one of our scheduled student team packaging events throughout the semester, held at the Wesley Church on the UIUC campus. Events are usually one to two hours long and directly benefit the Wesley Food Pantry and other local pantries. For inquiries about how you can volunteer at a packaging event, please contact us.

We typically offer at least one of the following activities for our members each week during the semester:

  • Volunteer events (IFH member packing event, pantry/dish cleaning, volunteering at a partner organization)
  • Event facilitation (van loading/unloading, hosting a packing event for an organization)
  • Educational events (ex: guest speakers, documentary watching)
  • Social events (ex: painting, game nights, gathering at a local restaurant/cafe)
  • Fundraisers (Quad sales, local restaurant fundraisers)
  • World Food Programme FreeRice challenges against other universities (we are multi-repeat champions!)

Are you a group?

Illini Fighting Hunger can also host an exclusive group packaging event arranged for your whole team to come and participate. Contact us to organize an event and reserve your spot on our calendar for this wonderful team-building and community-serving opportunity.

As a nonprofit service group, 100% of our packaging events are donation-funded. We encourage and graciously accept all donations in advance or at the door. Learn about sponsoring a packaging event.

Note: Group event requests for a specific date should be made at least two months in advance. Due to students’ limited transportation, requests for off-campus events are not guaranteed for approval.
